10/5/13 – English Creek Presented it’s first Annual Leighton Processed Meats Shootout for 1k to win. In our heat we would have a tough go of it. Starting 3rd and finishing 3rd. Luckily to hold my own as passing points came into play. Was a heat winning capable car just had to avoid near wrecking myself out of a shot to make the feature by taking evasive action to move into second and possibly either 1 lock us in for the dash and A main or 2 wreck ourselves out of the whole night. We’d settle for third and let Minnesota native Ryan Schuur come home second. In the B things started to look up starting 3rd, we shuffled back to 5th as we got hung up trying to pass a car that we just couldn’t pass clean. We kept digging getting back to4th and split the third place car. Keeping at it and moving back into third! I didn’t stop there as I’d make a move on the high side 4 times for second only to have it called back 3 times due to cautions. After caution 4 we made the pass stick moving into second and slowly closing on B main winner Eric Bridger. The A went well too. Starting 13th and slowly making our way to an 8th place finish at one time going from 11th to 8th at the entrance of turn three and exiting turn 4. That is where we would finish after all was said and done 8th out of 37 was a good night for us and we did close in on 5th 6th and 7th place cars at the stripe being 1 car length out from 7th!
9/21/13 – We geared up for the Clarke County Speedway Season championship race. Decided to stay home the weekend of 9/14 to focus on catching up on work in the shop. Started 2nd in our heat and winning it by a straight away at the line. The A set us up for a 3rd starting spot. On a restart after caution the second place car would stumble I ended up jumping his left rear going from 3rd to 6th. The race basically went green from there and I was able to challenge back for 5th around Eric Bridger and almost getting back to 4th at the conclusion. Racing Rundown – Heat Start – 2nd – Finish – 1st A main – Start – 3rd Finish 5th 25 cars signed in. Here is the Youtube video from the CCS feature!
Weekend of 9/7/13 – Went well as the DHR Wings #41 machine would win our heat race from the point. The A feature had us lining up 2nd with Larry Forsyth taking point we followed him for laps but a late caution would not be kind to us as we slipped from 2nd to finishing 4th still a good hard run though considering we where trying some new things with the car that where slightly unfavorable to our liking and still coming home in 4th!
8/24/13– Friday night we decided to take the wings off and Visit the 3rd annual Yard dog Memorial. Bad fast in hotlaps and accidentally made slight contact with another car. Between hotlaps to the heats the track slicked off completely. I miss read that and bounced the car off the turn 2 fence in heat one. Heat two we started third and finished third hung right with the front runners no advance in position however we where just as fast as any of them. Due to the poor finish in heat 1 we had to run the B main and we got the raw end of it. Had advanced into the A transfer which only took 14 cars out of 20 to the A and had the third place car park on the berm in front of us. We had no where to go knocked the 3rd place car off the berm and went from being in the show to 1 spot out going from 4th to 5th again moving forward but not getting the luck as the B was 1 lane on a very slick 1 lane track.
8/17/23 – This weekend we are Preparing to Race at the Warren County Speedway in Indianola, Iowa. It’s been a few years since we have been there and I am looking forward to returning. The track is close to home a 45 min drive from the shop and another chance to Put our DHR Wings to the test on our Edge . It’s been a fun season, we have been close to winning an A feature just luck has not shined on us yet. We are going to give it a go this weekend work on the car extra hard to prepare and hope for the best Saturday Night. There is a slim chance we may travel out of state to Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex we definitely want to get back there before years end and also hit a couple big shows before the snow flies.
